CTD foils terrorism bid in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: A major terrorism bid has been foiled in Rawalpindi after the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD arrested a suspected terrorist belonging to the banned outfit Fitna-ul-Khawarij.
According to CTD spokesperson, the suspected terrorist was arrested during an intelligence-based operation in Rawalpindi and arms and explosive materials were recovered from his possession.
The arrested individual was reportedly conducting reconnaissance of sensitive locations in Rawalpindi, the spokesperson added.

CTD further claimed that the suspect had travelled to Afghanistan multiple times for training and was in contact with a commander of the Fitna-ul-Khawarij group.
A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway, the CTD said.
