Curfew imposed in South Waziristan, Tank again

TANK: Curfew has been imposed in upper South Waziristan and adjacent areas of Tank, office of the Deputy Commissioner said on Wednesday.

Earlier, a curfew was also imposed on Monday. The notification said that the measure has been taken on the request of the law enforcement agencies (LEAs). On Tuesday, the curfew was reportedly lifted, but it has been re-imposed now.

The curfew will be in effect from 6 AM to 6 PM.

Sources reported that the curfew was implemented to facilitate the deployment of security forces, necessary to address potential threats in the area. The local officials, speaking to media, said that the curfew was needed for maintaining stability in the region and to ensure protection of the citizens.

The notification issued on Tuesday said that due to heightened threat to the movement of LEAs, “complete curfew is hereby imposed on main route from Kaur Fort-Manzi – Khirgi – Kirri Wam to Jandola, District Tank” on March 19, 2025.

Dabarra market will also remain close during the curfew hours. However, route from the Kaur Fort – Gomal – Girdawi to Wana will remain open for all kind of traffic.

Due to the curfew, Waziristan Highway is also closed for all types of traffic at Dabra. The police and other security agencies are continuously patrolling and snap-checking.
