Defense cooperation: China renews support for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan’s top military official, is currently on an important visit to China, where he met with key political and military leadership, a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

As per ISPR, Field Marshal Munir met with Chinese Vice President and Foreign Minister. The meetings focused on the rapidly changing regional and global political landscape, with both sides discussing mutual concerns and cooperation.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) also remained a central point of discussion. The two sides deliberated on strengthening their response to emerging geopolitical challenges through coordinated strategies.

During the meetings, both nations reaffirmed their “iron-clad” friendship and strategic partnership. Satisfaction was expressed over the depth of bilateral ties, and a renewed commitment was made to sovereignty, multilateral cooperation, and long-term regional stability.

Chinese leadership lauded Pakistan Army as a strong force for peace and stability in South Asia.

On his arrival at the PLA Headquarters, Field Marshal Munir was presented with a Guard of Honour. Discussions also highlighted enhancing institutional links and operational coordination between the Pakistan and Chinese armed forces.

China expressed full confidence in Pakistan’s role in regional security and reiterated its support for Pakistan in defense cooperation.

Field Marshal Munir thanked China for its consistent support and called the visit a symbol of deepening Pak-China military and political ties.

According to ISPR, both sides agreed to strengthen strategic coordination against shared challenges and enhance operational cooperation to counter cross-border threats.

Chinese military leadership also praised Pakistan’s vital role in promoting regional peace, calling the Pakistan Army a symbol of stability and resilience in South Asia.

Field Marshal Munir also met with the Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, the Political Commissioner of the PLA, and the PLA Army’s Chief of Staff.

The visit reflects the growing depth of bilateral relations and underlines the importance of strong coordination and consultation for regional peace and stability, ISPR statement said.
