Dengue patients rise to above 2000 in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: The dengue mosquito virus cases continue to surface in Islamabad and Rawalpindi despite a dip in temperatures.
At least 22 more dengue virus cases were reported in Islamabad on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases in the federal capital to 2,237.
According to Islamabad District Health Officer, 1421 new cases were reported in rural areas of Islamabad while in urban areas it has touched 816.
First pill for dengue shows promise
Meanwhile, 20 new dengue virus cases were reported in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 2262 in the district this season.
As per the latest data from the District Health Officer (DHO), it has been revealed that 66 percent of dengue patients are male, while the remaining 34 percent are female. This gender distribution sheds light on the demographic affected by the dengue outbreak.
