Chairing the gathering, CM Maryam declared the launch of the “New Era…Clean Lahore” initiative, outlining a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing the city’s infrastructure and sanitation standards.

Under this ambitious initiative, all major and minor roads across Lahore are set to undergo construction and repair works, with a focus on paving streets and installing tuff tiles.

Additionally, a significant emphasis will be placed on restoring 222,000 street lights throughout the city to improve visibility and safety for residents.

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set a rigorous three-month deadline for the urgent implementation of this development plan, underscoring her personal commitment to regularly review its progress every ten days.

Stressing the importance of public participation, she called upon citizens to actively support the government’s efforts in maintaining cleanliness across Lahore.

Addressing the crucial issue of water management, CM Maryam directed the immediate operationalisation of all water filtration plants within Lahore.

Earlier discussions in the meeting also saw the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) present a comprehensive plan for drainage and sewerage rehabilitation across nine zones of Lahore.

Key aspects such as the sewer master plan and the construction of water collection tanks were thoroughly deliberated upon.

In a bid to streamline future efforts, the Chief Minister instructed WASA to furnish a detailed phased plan for expanding its jurisdiction, constructing water collection tanks, and addressing the requisite human resource and machinery needs accordingly.

The high-profile meeting saw the presence of several key officials, including Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, former Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bukhari, Provincial Minister for Local Government and Community Development Zeeshan Rafique, MPA Sania Ashiq, Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Secretary Housing, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and other relevant officers.
