Diamer forest fire rages on, locals call for Army’s help

CHILAS: The forest fire in Diamer continues to rage for the ninth consecutive day, causing widespread destruction prompting the locals to seek the help of the Pakistan army to douse the fire.

As per reports, the fire has engulfed multiple areas in Hodor and Thore Valleys, with dense forests in Istar Nala, Soor Chap Nala, and Mo Nala completely caught in flames.

According to the Forest Department, the fire initially broke out on June 15 and has intensified since. The fire has turned vast stretches of forest into ashes.

The blaze has devastated vast forest areas and inflicted serious damage on local wildlife. The Diamer Forest Department stressed the immediate need for joint efforts to prevent further destruction, warning that the fire poses a grave threat to the region’s ecological stability.

According to fire department officials, they are making hectic efforts to contain the Diamer forest fire, but due to limited resources and the intensity of the fire, it is becoming hard to douse the fire.

Local volunteers have also been called in to assist. Strong winds in the area has compounded the ability of the firefighters to control the raging fire.

Locals have publicly appealed to the Pakistan Army to launch helicopter-based rescue and firefighting efforts to bring the blaze under control and prevent further devastation.
