DPM Ishaq Dar to visit US from July 21

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will undertake an official visit to the United States from July 21 to 24, where he will represent Pakistan as the President of the UN Security Council (UNSC) for the month.

During the visit, Pakistan will host two key events at the UNSC, focusing on global peace and security through the peaceful settlement of disputes.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres is also invited to participate in the open debate.

On July 22, Ishaq Dar will address the UN Security Council in his capacity as President.

A high-level briefing on July 24 will focus on strengthening cooperation between the UN and regional organizations, including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

On July 23, Dar is also scheduled to chair a quarterly open debate on the Palestine issue, reaffirming Pakistan’s consistent support for the Palestinian cause.

Dar is also expected to meet with the UN Secretary-General during his stay.

In addition, a visit to Washington is likely, where he is expected to hold meetings with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other senior American officials to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.
