The Field Force Punjab, a law enforcement agency dedicated to safeguarding the public from counterfeit and substandard products, sent samples of the medicines to a testing lab for analysis.
Subsequent lab tests confirmed that the medicines were indeed spurious, indicating they were either counterfeit or substandard.
The affected medicines comprise three batches of breast cancer, gynaecological, and antibiotic drugs.
According to DRAP, the affected medicines were prepared with fake salt, which is a type of inactive ingredient that is used to make counterfeit medicines.
The packaging of the spurious medicines contained the details of well-known pharmaceutical companies, which is a common tactic used by counterfeiters to deceive consumers.
DRAP has issued instructions to its field force to seize spurious medicines from the market.
