LWMC clears over 7,000 dumping sites

LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) is making significant progress with its ongoing 15-day zero waste campaign, which is set to continue until May 30.
Under the leadership of LWMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Babar Sahib Din, special zero-waste activities are actively underway in Union Council 101 and Allama Iqbal Town.
According to the CEO, the campaign has resulted in the clearance of over 40 open plots in UC 101 and the disposal of more than 45,000 tonnes of waste.
Additionally, the zero waste drive has addressed over 7,000 garbage dumps and 410 open plots across the city. More than 490 kilometres of roads have been scraped as part of the initiative.
LWMC spokesperson Umar Chaudhry reported that over 5,000 waste containers are being emptied daily. Special manual sweeping efforts are also in progress in Band Road, Bakar Mandi, Sabzazar, and surrounding areas.
