LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz has announced that the distribution of electric bikes will commence on July 10.
Addressing the Punjab Assembly in Lahore today, she highlighted the key achievements of her government’s first 100 days in office and presented a historic, tax-free budget.
The Chief Minister underscored that no new taxes have been imposed on the people of Punjab. She also revealed plans to revive the laptop scheme at a cost of Rs10 billion and initiate a programme to enroll out-of-school children.
In the health sector, Nawaz stated that free medicines and treatments are being provided in public hospitals. For farmers, she announced measures including interest-free loans and subsidies on agricultural machinery.
It is worth noting that on April 12, CM Maryam Nawaz launched the Chief Minister Youth Initiative, which aims to provide 20,000 electric bikes.
Under this scheme, students can acquire motorcycles and e-bikes through easy monthly installment plans: male students at Rs11,676 per month and female students at Rs7,325 per month.
The quota is divided equally between male and female students in urban areas, while in rural areas, 70 per cent of the quota is reserved for male students and 30 per cent for female students.
