Early morning rain in Lahore brings relief from heat

LAHORE: Heavy rain, accompanied by gusty winds, in Lahore in the early hours of Monday turned the weather pleasant and bought much pleasant relief from the hot and humid conditions prevailing in the city

According to the met office, due to the rain in Lahore the mercury considerably came down as the pre-monsoon spell began in the country bringing relief. Early morning temperatures in Lahore were recorded at 29 degree Celsius. The rain is expected to continue in intervals throughout the day.

Downpour in several areas inundated roads and streets in the provincial capital and commuters and motorists faced immense difficulties while trying to carry on with their routines on Monday morning.

Lahore Airport to remain closed for three hours daily

Rain in areas including Gulberg, Jail Road, Lawrence Road, Begum Road, and Anarkali has brought pleasant weather to the city.

According to WASA, the highest rainfall was recorded at Lakshmi Chowk, with 105mm of rain.

Other areas also received significant rainfall, with 102mm recorded around Qartaba Chowk, 61mm in Gulshan Ravi, 72mm in Pani Wala Talab, and 73mm in Gulberg.

Rain disrupted electricity in parts of Lahore as dozens of feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripped.

Rain was also reported from other cities of Punjab including Muridke, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Safdarabad, Jaranwala, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Kamonki, Narowal, Okara, Jhang, Bahawalpur, Renala Khurd, Kot Addu, Bhalwal, Kabirwala, Hafizabad, Manchanabad, Shurkot, Pakpattan and other cities.
