Alongside this decision, a fine of Rs 20,000 has been imposed on the party.

ECP had reserved its verdict on Awami National Party (ANP) intra-party elections.

ANP had requested an extension from the Election Commission for conducting intra-party elections.

The commission had turned down the ANP’s plea for a six-month time for conduct of iintra-party elections, with the Chief Election Commissioner leaving a clear hint that ANP will not be able to contest the upcoming general election with its poll symbol.

On Saturday while allotting ANP laltain electoral symbol, the Election Commission has granted respite until May 10 for ANP’s intra-party elections.
