ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued vital instructions to federal and provincial governments through official correspondence, ushering in a series of significant measures.
The ECP has said that the National Assembly, Sindh and Balochistan assemblies have been dissolved. It said that following the dissolution of the assemblies, the ECP assumes the responsibility for organising upcoming elections, with a clear emphasis on ensuring transparent, fair, and timely electoral processes.
The ECP has imposed restrictions on new appointments within federal, provincial and local institutions.
Furthermore, a directive has been issued, mandating that transfers and postings should not occur without prior authorization from the ECP.
The ECP has also enforced a ban on all types of developmental schemes within federal and provincial governments.
The ECP has also issued instructions to terminate service of political figures holding positions within government offices. Notably, it has directed to vacate the residences of the prime minister, chief ministers and cabinet members.

The poll body has asked assembly members to vacate official residences.
Moreover, a directive has been issued to retrieve government-owned vehicles from the former prime ministers, chief ministers, and cabinet members.
The ECP has underscored that federal and provincial caretaker governments should operate in accordance with the law and refrain from exerting undue pressure or causing disruptions during the election process.
It has said that caretaker governments were authorised to continue implementing existing international and bilateral agreements.
The ECP has also sought detailed inventories of assets owned by caretaker prime ministers, chief ministers, and cabinet members.
