ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan rejected a plea of the Sunni Ittehad Council seeking allocation of reserved seats for the party.

The ECP announced the reserved verdict on the applications of the Sunni Ittehad Council and others.

The ECP issued the decision by a ratio of 1-4, while Punjab member Babar Hassan Bharwana wrote a dissenting note.

The ECP rejected the request of the Sunni Ittehad Council for reserved seats, deciding that the Sunni Ittehad Council was not eligible for the quota of reserved seats for women and minorities.

After the decision of the ECP, the reserved seats will go to the other parties.

It should be remembered that the independent members of the assembly backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf joined the Sunni Ittehad Council after winning elections.

On this basis, the Sunni Ittehad Council had filed an application in the ECP for reserved seats for women and minorities.
