Egg thrown at Aleema Khan’s face

RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan, sister of Imran Khan, faced an embarrassing situation when an egg was thrown at her on Friday. The incident occurred outside Adiala Jail where Aleema was addressing the media. Eyewitnesses said two girls emerged from the crowd and suddenly threw an egg, which hit her face.

The unexpected act caused commotion at the spot as party workers and security personnel rushed to shield her. Aleema Khan was shocked by the sudden act. The girls were briefly held back by PTI supporters before police intervened to control the situation and took them into custody.

Another rain spell predicted from tomorrow

Briefly talking to the media after the incident, Aleema Khan said that she is not afraid of such attacks adding that she knows who is behind such incidents. Many dubbed the incident as an act of cowardice, insinuating new low in politics.

Aleema Khan’s son granted bail

Earlier yesterday, an anti-terrorism court in Lahore on Thursday had granted post-arrest bail to Sher Shah, son of Aleema Khan and nephew of PTI founder Imran Khan, in the May 9 Jinnah House attack case.

Judge Manzar Ali Gul approved his release against surety bonds of Rs100,000 after his counsel argued that no evidence had been presented, no challan filed, and several co-accused facing graver allegations had already secured bail. Sher Shah, the lawyer stressed, was neither accused of vandalism nor implicated through credible testimony.

Aleema Khan faces legal action over ‘anti-state activity’

He was arrested on August 22 while attending his brother Shahrez’s hearing. A day earlier, the court had also granted bail to Shahrez Khan in the same case, ruling that investigations, including geofencing and charge sheets, had not linked him to any offence. Both brothers, sons of Aleema Khan, had been accused of involvement in the May 9 unrest but courts found insufficient evidence to justify continued detention.
