Eidul Azha relief: prisoners in Sindh jails granted amnesty

KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a significant relief for prisoners across the province, declaring an amnesty in celebration of Eidul Azha.

Sindh Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced 120-day special amnesty for prisoners. This amnesty will only be applicable for general prisoners. Convicts involved in murder, terrorism, rape, kidnapping or financial corruption are not be eligible for amnesty, Sindh CM said.

Death row prisoners are also not included in this special amnesty, Murad Ali Shah said, adding that prisoners convicted in narcotics, foreign acts, espionage and financial irregularities are also excluded from the 120-days amnesty.

The Sindh Home Department has issued a notification of 120-day amnesty for prisoners, Sindh Chief Minister’s spokesperson said on Friday.
