LAHORE: In a significant breakthrough, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Saturday announced the arrest of eight terrorists including two high-ranking Al-Qaeda commanders.
The meticulous Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) unfolded across multiple cities within the province of Punjab, marking a substantial stride in combating the threat of terrorism.
The coordinated efforts led to arrests in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Multan.
From the heart of Lahore, the CTD operation yielded the apprehension of the two Al Qaeda commanders, identified as Kashaan and Hassan. The operation also led to the seizure of a cache of alarming materials, including explosive substances, detonators, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), mobile communication devices, and a sum of currency.

The suspects, whose names have been disclosed as Liaqat, Hassan, Kashaan, Gul Karim, Ayub Khan, Ameer Muavia, and Rizwan, have been linked to activities posing a threat to public safety.
Their apprehension reinforces the commitment of law enforcement agencies to curbing terrorism within the region.
The CTD spokesperson affirmed that an ongoing investigation is underway, with formal cases registered against the detained individuals.
Recent efforts have resulted in the apprehension of a total of 135 suspects through 336 exhaustive combing operations throughout the preceding week.
Additionally, a staggering 16,784 individuals have been subjected to rigorous questioning by law enforcement authorities.
Underscoring their dedication, the CTD spokesperson reiterated the agency’s unwavering determination to eradicate the specter of terrorism from Punjab.
