Elahi arrested again hours after release

ISLAMABAD: Former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was re-arrested on Tuesday hour after his release.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had suspended his detention under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) and ordered his release. However, he was rearrested by the police on the orders of the Punjab government.

Elahi was arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and plain-clothed officials from the main gate of the police lines in Islamabad.

Elahi was arrested in case registered under different sections, including 7ATA, at the Counter Terrorism Department police station
