ISLAMABAD: The capital city has taken another significant step towards sustainable public transportation with the arrival of eight additional electric buses, bringing the total to 30 out of the planned 160.

By Thursday, Islamabad will see the arrival of 22 more electric buses, further boosting the fleet. A dedicated charging point has been established at the Jinnah Convention Center to support these eco-friendly vehicles.

Initially, the 30 buses will operate on two routes. The first route will commence from the NUST Orange Line Depot in G-11 and extend to PIMS Hospital. This route includes 13 stops: G-11 Markaz, G-10 Markaz, G-9 Markaz, and G-8 Markaz, before concluding at PIMS. Buses will arrive at each stop every ten minutes, ensuring a convenient and efficient service for passengers.

The second route will start from PIMS and terminate at Bari Imam. It will pass through G-7, G-6, Melody, Abpara, Ataturk Road, Serena Hotel, Foreign Office, Radio Pakistan, and Diplomatic Enclave, ending at Bari Imam.

This service will operate from 6 AM to 10 PM daily, providing reliable and sustainable transportation options for the residents of Islamabad.

According to APP, under the directives of the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), a subsidy procedure is being developed to support deserving individuals, including disabled persons, students, and other eligible groups, making the service more accessible to all segments of society.
