The federal cabinet had previously approved an increase of up to Rs7.12 per unit in the base electricity tariff, and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approved this increase on Friday.

This increase in the base electricity tariff will place an additional burden on consumers, who are already struggling with skyrocketing.
