Elite PAS officers secure postings in key Pakistani missions abroad

ISLAMABAD: At least four officers belonging to the most privileged Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) have secured coveted postings in key Pakistani missions in Washington, Toronto, New York and Madrid.
At the helm of this diplomatic surge are four PAS officers, part of the privileged PAS group, who have successfully secured foreign assignments as trade and investment officers in the United States, Canada, and Europe for an impressive three-year tenure.
Sources reveal that the approval for these high-profile postings comes following the endorsement of a summary by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar. The Ministry of Commerce had moved the summary to the Prime Minister’s Office for the dispatch of 39 trade and investment officers to Pakistani missions abroad.
Among the appointed officers, eight are PBS-20 officers, 22 in PBS-19 and nine in BPS-18, all will contribute as trade officers in various Pakistani missions worldwide.
Among the trade and investment officers, PAS Officer Hanif Channa is destined for Washington, Altamash Janjua for Toronto, Adnan Mahmood for New York and Ali Asghar for Madrid.
In addition to these PAS officers, Inland Revenue Service (IRS) Officer Shagufta Zareen has been posted in Jakarta, PCS Officer Irfan Waheed in Riyadh, Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service (PAAS) Officer Muhammad Naseem Rasheed in Addis Ababa and CTG Officer Riaz Ahmed Shaikh in London.
Other key appointments in consular roles have also been unveiled. Commerce and Trade Group (CTG) Officer Shahzad Ahmed will take charge in Hong Kong, CTG Officer Qamar Zaman in Sydney, PCS Officer Fawad Ali Shah in Shanghai, CTG Officer Ahsan Riaz Chaudhry in Stockholm and IRS Officer Muhammad Athar Ishaq in Warsaw.

Similarly, CTG Officer Shafique Haider has been posted as trade and investment consular in Hague, CTG Officer Yasir Hussain in Rome, PCS Officer Tahira Jawaid in Kuala Lumpur, PCS Officer Hasan Farid in Seoul, CTG Officer Madiha Ali in Tokyo, IRS Officer Rizwana Kazi in Almaty, CTG Officer Ali Rasool in Mexico, PCS Officer Ali Zaib in Dubai, PCS Officer Mauzzam Raza in Bangkok, CTG Officer Fariha Khan in Casablanca, CTG Officer Nazish Sami in Buenos Aires, CTG Officer Sadia Khan in Jeddah, CTG Officer Babar Khan in Qandahar, CTF Officer Ashfaq Ahmed in Nairobi.
Several others including Owais Butt, Ali Adnan Zaidi, and Dr. Babar Chohan will represent Pakistan in foreign missions.
