End of an era: Monal, La Montana sealed

Monal sealed

ISLAMABAD: The renowned Monal and La Montana restaurants in Islamabad have been sealed completely from today, following orders from the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board has taken control of the popular Monal and La Montana restaurants and sealed them, according to a spokesperson.

This action was carried out in line with the Supreme Court’s directives.

The operation was conducted with the support of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad administration, and federal police, the Wildlife Board spokesperson added.

Nationwide heatwave to persist with minor cloud cover in the north

The spokesperson further stated that the wildlife department, CDA, administration, and federal police will now coordinate to devise a strategy for future actions regarding the area.

The Supreme Court’s directive mandates the shutdown of all restaurants, including Monal, operating within Margalla National Park in Islamabad, a move aimed at preserving the park’s rich biodiversity.

The SC in its June 11 verdict had ordered the restaurants to shift to other places from picturesque Margalla Hills within three months.

Monal, situated in the scenic Margalla Hills National Park, has long been a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike. However, the park’s biodiversity has faced increasing threats from human activities and traffic, prompting the court’s decisive action.
