Ex-senator Hidayat Ullah among five killed in Bajaur blast

BAJAUR: At least five people, including former senator Hidayat Ullah, were killed in a “remote-controlled” bomb explosion targeting a vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district on Wednesday, according to police.

According to police, the deceased include Malak Irfan and Malak Nazruddin from the Mamond tribe.
According to Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Bakht Munir, the explosion was carried out using a remote-controlled device, targeting the former senator’s vehicle.
He served as an independent member of the Senate from 2012 to 2018 and from 2018 to 2024. Hidayat Ullah was the son of former MNA Haji Bismillah Khan and the brother of former Governor Shaukatullah.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the incident and demanded a report from police authorities.
President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the deaths of former Senator Hidayatullah and other people who lost their lives in a remote-controlled bomb blast in Bajaur.
