Exclusive: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s key meetings at UNGA unveiled

NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on an intense week of diplomacy and high-level meetings at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which is currently underway in New York.

As per the details, uncovered by HUM Investigation Team, the premier will arrive in the city today afternoon (Sunday). Afterwards, the Prime Minister’s schedule from Monday through Friday promises to be jam-packed with engagements that will shape Pakistan’s foreign policy and international relations.

PM Sharif is expected to meet over a dozen world leaders during his time at the UNGA, including US President Donald Trump, and leaders of key Islamic countries. Pakistan’s PM will meet with President Trump on Monday afternoon, where they will discuss a range of global issues, including the situation in Palestine and Kashmir.

On Monday evening, President Trump will host a dinner for world leaders at the Paris Hotel, where PM Sharif will have the opportunity to interact with heads of state and other prominent figures from around the world. The premier will also meet International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Monday, and attend the Chinese Prime Minister’s Global Development Initiative Program.

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister is slated to meet Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara and Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus. He will also hold bilateral discussions with the World Bank (WB) President Ajay Banga, and the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled.

Shehbaz Sharif will also participate in a high-level meeting on Palestine, and is scheduled to attend a special climate event hosted by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres alongside Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, focused on updating Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for COP-30.

Other key meetings include a session with Bill Gates, Chairman of the Gates Foundation, as well as engagements with the US-Pakistan Business Council (USPBC) and investors focused on strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and the international business community.

One of the most significant events on Prime Minister Sharif’s schedule is his address to the General Assembly on Friday at 10:00 AM, where he is expected to raise Pakistan’s concerns on pressing global issues. His speech will focus on the ongoing crises in Kashmir and Palestine, the global threat of terrorism, climate change, and natural disasters.

In addition to all this, the Prime Minister will participate in a series of bilateral talks and international conferences as well, aimed at fostering global cooperation on security, economic development, and climate change. He will meet with the UN Secretary-General and will continue to advocate for Pakistan’s interests on the world stage.
