Extension in Punjab summer vacations termed “unjustified”

Punjab school holidays extension termed unjustified

LAHORE: All Pakistan Private Schools Association has rejected the Punjab government’s decision to extend summer vacations, calling it “unjustified”.

Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced on social media that all schools in Punjab will now reopen on September 1, citing the province’s weather conditions as the reason.

However, the association argued that extending holidays until August 31 is unnecessary, noting that private schools in Islamabad reopened on August 4, while other provinces have also resumed academic activities after the break.

The association urged the provincial minister to reconsider the decision, warning that keeping children away from studies for three months is not in their interest and will badly affect matriculation classes.

Public holiday announced in Sindh tomorrow

The schools and colleges across Sindh including Karachi reopened last week following a two-month summer break.

The Sindh Education Department had officially announced the summer break from June 1 to July 31, with schools reopening from August 1.

The schools in KP will also reopen from August 31 after a three month summer break.

According to the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, most KP districts will observe summer vacations from June 15 to August 31. In upper districts, where the weather is milder, schools will close from July 1 to July 31. The schedule applies to all government and private institutions under the provincial education authority.
