KARACHI: The Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) has implemented a state-of-the-art Face Recognition System at Karachi airport, aiming to thwart criminals attempting to flee the country.
Sindh Police provided the necessary data of known criminals to establish a comprehensive face recognition database.
SAMAA TV sources confirm that the system is currently operational exclusively at Karachi airport. The integration of cameras with the face recognition technology has been successfully completed, facilitating real-time monitoring and identification.
FIA authorities stated that upon detecting any suspicious individuals passing through the airport’s cameras, the system will promptly alert the monitoring room with pertinent criminal data.
However, it is important to note that the face recognition system is yet to be activated at other airports across the country, including Islamabad and Lahore. This limitation may pose challenges in identifying potential offenders until the technology is rolled out nationwide.
The implementation of this cutting-edge system marks a significant step forward in enhancing security measures at Karachi airport, deterring criminal activities, and safeguarding national borders.
