Faisal Vawda apology

ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda has submitted an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court in his contempt of court case.

A contempt of court case was filed against the senator for his tirade against the judiciary over the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges’ letter, pointing out the intelligence agency’s meddling in judicial affairs and alleged dual nationality of a senior judge.

“I place myself at the mercy of the Supreme Court,” stated Faisal Vawda in his apology.

Vawda requested the court to end the contempt of court proceedings against him.

“I unconditionally apologize if my press conference hurt the dignity of the judiciary,” Vawda added.

He clarified that his press conference was not intended to disrespect the judiciary.

Earlier Vawda had refused to tender an unconditional apology over a press conference on May 15.

“The press conference was not aimed at insulting the judiciary and it was meant for the betterment of the country,” Faisal Vawda said in his reply to the court.

In his reply, Senator Vawda asked the court to observe restraint over moving forward the contempt proceedings.

He also requested to withdraw the contempt of court notice, issued to him.

Faisal Vawda has also submitted transcripts of the speeches of PTI’s Raoof Hassan, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with his reply.
