Fake property dealers from recorded network arrested in Lahore

LAHORE: Lahore police have arrested seven fake property dealers including a female member of a criminally recorded property network. This was revealed by Lahore Defense ASP Shehrbano Naqvi in a press conference, held at Police Station Defense B.
More than Rs 2.2 million looted from citizens was also recovered from the accused, she said, adding that the accused are registered in several cases of forgery, deceit, and fraud. The accused used to pretend to be the owner of a property or a property agent through fake identity. They would show houses and properties to interested buyers and renters, receive money under fake agreements, and then disappear.
The real owners of the properties were unaware of the fraud as well.
The accused provided fake documents, registry, stamp paper and identity cards and used to loot citizens by affixing fake signatures or thumbprints, ASP Naqvi said.
She said that DIG Operations had given a special task to SP Cantt to arrest the accused. “They could not have evaded the police for long, [and] admitted the truth during interrogation,” she added.
The police official also shared that the accused were arrested with the help of CCTV cameras and modern technology. A case has been registered against the accused, ASP Defense Shehrbano Naqvi said.
