Falling boulder kills Thai tourist in Skardu


The local disaster management authority issued a travel advisory for the Jaglot-Skardu Road after it was blocked due to heavy rockfall.

SKARDU: A Thai woman tourist was killed and another injured when a boulder fell on their vehicle in the Ghowari area near Skardu, according to local reports. The tourists were travelling to Ghanche when a large rock from the mountain area struck their car.

The deceased was identified as Tasneem Yuyu from Thailand, who died on the spot due to severe injuries. Her fellow tourist, Suda Doloh, sustained injuries and was rushed to the Regional Headquarters (RHQ) Hospital, where she is reported to be out of danger.

Rockfall halts Jaglot-Skardu Road for second time in week

Police officials confirmed that the body of the deceased tourist is currently in the hospital’s morgue, and arrangements are being made to repatriate her remains to Thailand. However, no family members have yet formally contacted officials to claim the body.

his marks the first known incident in the region where a tourist has died due to a falling rock.
