Fawad Chaudhry to contest on two seats amidst graft case

Fawad Chaudhary

ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister who recently parted ways with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Fawad Chaudhry, has officially thrown his hat into the political ring.

He announced his candidacy for the upcoming general elections in not one, but two constituencies in Jhelum—NA 61 and NA 62. The revelation came during an informal exchange with journalists at the Accountability Court, Federal Judicial Complex where Chaudhry was presented by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to secure physical remand in connection with an ongoing graft case.

Election nomination deadline extended until December 24

Unfazed by the legal proceedings, he confidently stated, “I’ll contest from two seats, and in case I’m disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), our senior family member, Chaudhry Shehbaz, will announce who’ll contest the elections from both seats.”

He went on to mention that the responsibility of spearheading his election campaign would be shouldered by his wife Hiba Fawad and brother Faisal Chaudhry.

Seeking to ensure compliance with the legal process, Chaudhry also sought permission from the court to file his nomination papers.
