ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday warned against malicious propaganda targeting Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, vowing to take stringent action against those responsible.
Supreme Court’s ad hoc judges sworn in
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, during a press conference in Islamabad, stated, “The state will not allow anyone to issue a fatwa calling for someone’s murder.” He highlighted the misuse of religion in attempts to incite violence following the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Mubarak Sani case.
Joined by Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Asif underscored the gravity of the situation, denouncing the propaganda campaign against the chief justice. “Any dictation in the name of politics or religion by any group will not be accepted,” Iqbal affirmed. He emphasised that the judiciary, led by the Chief Justice, is a crucial pillar of the state, and only the courts hold the authority to deliver justice.
Iqbal further said that terrorism, suicide attacks, and fatwas have no place in Islam. “The state will not succumb to the dictates of any group,” he stated, stressing that those issuing fatwas against individuals’ faith are insincere and detrimental to statehood. The government, he assured, will not permit such harmful attitudes to flourish.
Defence Minister Asif echoed these sentiments, condemning the malicious propaganda fuelled by political motives and external influences.

He warned that allowing such actions would disrupt the state’s stability. He also noted the attempts to incite violence through social media, making it clear that the Chief Justice is not involved in these decisions.
“The law will move with full force against such elements,” Asif concluded.
