ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has allegedly detained Naeem Haider Panjootha, who is representing the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief in the Toshakhana case.

The alleged detention comes a day after the FIA summoned Haider in a case regarding a social media post.

According to sources, Naeem Haider had visited the FIA headquarters after he was summoned.

The FIA had summoned him for investigations related to a social media post about Justice Hamayoun Dilawar, who had convicted the PTI chief in the Toshakhana case.

According to a notice earlier issued by the FIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre Islamabad on Monday, Haider had been directed to appear before the agency on August 8 at 10am to record his version in his defence.

The notice had said that the enquiry was initiated against Haider on the direction of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

It warned that in case of non-appearance, it would be assumed that he had nothing to present or state in his defence.

The notice did not mention the nature or details of the charges against Haider.

Haider is one of the lawyers representing the PTI chief in various cases, including the Toshakhan case.

Haider could not be reached for comment on the FIA notice.
