ISLAMABAD: In a joint investigation committee (JIC) meeting convened by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Islamabad on Thursday, it was revealed that over 120 social media accounts were allegedly spreading false claims of election fraud.
The first meeting of JIC was chaired by Additional Direction-General (ADG) of the FIA. During the meeting, the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing briefed the committee on the accounts of social media trolls and their activities.
According to sources familiar with the matter, these accounts are reportedly engaging in campaigns against government officials and judges.
As per sources, the details of these 120 accounts, along with information on individuals campaigning against government officers and judges, have been requested from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
