FIA summons PTI chief’s counsel Khawaja Haris

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned senior lawyer Khawaja Haaris, who is representing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman in the Toshakhana case.
The FIA’s Cyber Crime in Islamabad is currently conducting proceedings related to Enquiry No. RE-618/2023, registered on 07-08-2023. The enquiry has been initiated based on the directions of the Islamabad High Court, the FIA said.
The FIA said: “You are hereby directed to appear before the undersigned at the FIA Cybercrime Reporting Centre on 09-08-2023 at 2pm at Building 5C, 1st Floor, Street 169, G-13/3, Islamabad. Your presence is required to record your version in your defence, ensuring a fair trial process in the interest of justice.”
It further said: “failure to appear will be construed as an indication that you have no response or statement to present in your defence.”

Earlier today, the Election Commission disqualified PTI chairman for a period of five years under Article 63(h), which bars anyone who has been convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude from being a member of parliament.
