COAS assures restoration of flood-hit Kartarpur Gadwara

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the flood-affected areas of Punjab, including Sialkot Sector, Shakargarh, Narowal, and Kartarpur on Friday  to review the flood situation and ongoing rescue and relief operations.

According to ISPR, the Army Chief received a detailed briefing on the prevailing flood situation and the preparations for the expected spell of rains. He appreciated the tireless efforts of troops and the civil administration in providing relief and rescue assistance to the affected population.

Field Marshal Asim Munir also interacted with the flood-affected Sikh community in Kartarpur.

He assured them that all damaged religious sites, including the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, would be restored to their original condition on a priority basis.

“Protection of minorities and their religious places is the state’s foremost responsibility. Pakistan will spare no effort in fulfilling this duty,” COAS said during the visit.

The Sikh community warmly welcomed the Army Chief and thanked the Army and civil administration for their services during the floods.

COAS also conducted an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas, including Kartarpur, to personally review the damage and relief efforts.

While interacting with the civil administration, Field Marshal Asim Munir lauded the proactive response that helped minimise the loss of life and property.

He also appreciated the high morale and dedication of troops working under challenging conditions.

Earlier, the Army Chief was received by the Corps Commander Gujranwala on his arrival.
