Field Marshal Asim Munir honoured with Hilal-e-Jurat

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Field Marshal Asim Munir has been awarded the Hilal-e-Jurat in recognition of his exceptional leadership of the Pakistan Army during extremely challenging circumstances at an investiture ceremony held on Independence Day.

President Asif Ali Zardari conferred top civil and military honours on individuals for their outstanding services in various fields on Independence Day. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, all provincial chief ministers, the three services chiefs and other ministers.

In a special ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was awarded the Hilal-e-Jur’at in recognition of his exceptional leadership of the Pakistan Army during extremely challenging circumstances.

The citation praised his strategic vision and steadfast command in safeguarding the country’s defence and stability.

Other notable recipients included Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar, and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who were awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi received the same honour for maintaining internal security and harmony, while Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal was honoured for his performance at the strategic level.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu received the Hilal-e-Jur’at for neutralising enemy aerial superiority, and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf was given the Nishan-e-Imtiaz for ensuring maritime defence.

DG ISPR Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz.

Several senior politicians, diplomats, and military officers were also honoured, including senators Sherry Rehman, Bushra Anjum, Faisal Sabzwari, and Hina Rabbani Khar.

Wing Commander Bilal Raza, Wing Commander Hammad Ibn Masood, Squadron Leader Muhammad Yousaf Khan, Squadron Leader Muhammad Sama Ashfaq, and Squadron Leader Talal Hassan were awarded the Sitara-e-Jur’at for their courage and gallantry.
