FinMin Aurangzeb vows to address traders’ concerns

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving business community issues while praising traders’ role in national development.

Addressing business leaders on Saturday at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce, FinMin described Sialkot Chamber as a “success story” and lauded Gujranwala Expo’s global recognition maintaining that industrial growth directly contributed to national prosperity.

The minister revealed that interest rates have been reduced from 22percent to 12percent, contributing to economic stability and that the benefits of reduced inflation should reach the common people, while describing stock market fluctuations as normal economic activity.

Aurangzeb announced significant reforms in salary structures, planning to reduce categories from 150 to 25 while introducing tax process facilitations. He termed the recent Minerals Investment Forum as proof of Pakistan’s correct economic direction and highlighted the Reko Diq project in Balochistan as a key national priority.

Looking ahead, the minister predicted export growth post-2028 and stressed the need for global market access for Pakistani products. The government continues to implement measures for economic stability while ensuring facilities for investors, he added. He also spoke about the stunting among children especially girls and the focus of government to address it because the children of today would be the future of tomorrow.
