LAHORE: A fire has erupted at Hafeez Centre in the posh Gulberg area of Lahore on Thursday afternoon. The fire brigade is trying to extinguish the fire.

Five fire brigade vehicles are on site.

Police has cordoned off all roads leading to Hafeez Centre to keep the public away and ensure safety measures.

According to Rescue 1122 sources, the fire erupted in the basement of the centre and the smoke quickly spread over the entire building.

So far no loss of life has been reported in the incident.

According to initial reports, the fire has resulted due to tripping of electricity and several naked wires which were never checked

Hafeez Centre is the city’s major multi-storey market housing mobile phones, laptops and computer business.

A similar fire in 2020 caused massive financial losses at Hafeez Center, however the building was reportedly reopened without full implementation of recommended fire safety upgrades or structural approvals.

Meanwhile a separate fire has been reported at a plastic warehouse on Band Road, necessitating immediate rescue efforts.
