Five dacoits killed in police encounter


KARACHI: Local police Wednesday killed five dacoits in an encounter while two others successfully evaded capture.

In a recent incident, seven dacoits forcibly entered a residence within North Karachi’s Sector 11, subjecting the occupants to captivity before embarking on a looting spree.

Promptly responding to a distress call received on 15, local police swiftly arrived at the scene. Following a brief exchange of gunfire, law enforcement successfully neutralized five of the dacoits, while the remaining two managed to elude capture.

According to law enforcement sources, the criminals gained access to the premises by tampering with the window grills, thereby entering the house unlawfully.

According to details shared by the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), street crime increased in the first seven months of 2023 in the metropolitan city as more than 52,000 incidents were reported from January 1 to July 31.
