Five dead, 38 injured as bus overturned near Chakri Interchange

CHAKRI: A private company bus travelling from Rawalpindi to Lahore met with a tragic incident near the Chakri Interchange, resulting in five deaths and 38 injuries, including women and children.

According to M-2 Motorway Police officials, the bus was carrying 43 passengers when it skidded near the interchange. The driver lost to control the bus, causing the vehicle to overturn after veering into a ditch.

Rescue teams and Motorway Police personnel immediately arrived at the spot, assisting the victims. The deceased were shifted to DHQ hospitals in Chakwal and Rawalpindi. The injured ones were sent to PIMS Islamabad, DHQ Rawalpindi, and Chakwal DHQ hospitals.

Police officials also said that many of the injured persons were already found in a critical situation.

Similarly, at least 19 people were also injured in a passenger bus accident near the Chillagah of Baba Lal Shah in New Murree in June.

According to Rescue 1122, 12 of the injured were in critical condition who were then shifted to the Civil Hospital Murree after receiving first aid on the spot.

The passengers were reportedly travelling from Lahore to attend the urs (annual religious gathering) of Baba Lal Shah. All of the injured belong from Lahore, according to rescue officials.
