Flight operations at Karachi airport continue uninterrupted


KARACHI: Jinnah International Airport Karachi building remains unaffected following an explosion near Model Colony Road on Sunday night, with flight operations continuing as per schedule, according to the Pakistan Airports Authority.

According to a statement from the authority, the terminal and airport assets are secure. “Flight schedules at Karachi’s Jinnah Terminal are proceeding as usual, with no interruptions,” the spokesperson said, reassuring travelers amid concerns of disruption.

The explosion occurred near the Model Colony area, specifically in the Out Signal vicinity, located not far from the airport premises.

While panic initially spread among residents and commuters, airport authorities were quick to respond. Firefighting vehicles were dispatched immediately to the scene as a precautionary measure.

The Director General of the Airports Authority has instructed all relevant teams to extend full cooperation in the rescue and relief efforts.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has also maintained that security protocols remain robust at the Karachi airport, ensuring that air travel is not impacted by the nearby incident and flight operations reman unaffected.

Local police and bomb disposal squads have been investigating the cause of the explosion. While initial reports suggest it could be linked to an oil tanker blast, authorities are closely examining all angles, with counter-terrorism teams also present at the site.
