Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Monday that a deliberate sanitization operation was conducted in surrounding areas of Hassan Khel, North Waziristan, along Pakistan-Afghanistan Border on Sunday night.

“During the conduct of the operation, 17 more khawarij, who were operating on behest of their Indian masters, were hunted down and successfully neutralized,” the ISPR said.

With this sanitization operation, the number of khawarij terrorists killed in three days’ anti-inflation operation has risen to 71.

The operation conducted during 25-27 April marked the highest ever number of Khawarij killed by the security forces in a single engagement during the entire campaign against terrorism.

The forces engaged the terrorists when they were making an infiltration attempt in in the Hasan Khel area of North Waziristan.

“Intelligence reports indicate that this group of Khawarij was specifically infiltrating at behest of their “foreign masters” to undertake high profile terrorist activities inside Pakistan. Such actions by Fitna al Khwarij, at a time when India is levelling baseless accusations against Pakistan, clearly imply on whose cues FAK is operating. Such actions amount to treason and betrayal against the state and its citizens,” the ISPR statement issued earlier read.

The ISPR also reiterated the resolve of the security forces that they remain committed to secure the nation’s frontiers and thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Pakistan.
