Foreign national arrested in online loan app scam

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken significant action against the perpetrators of fraud through an online loan app and arrested the ringleader of the group.

A spokesperson for the FIA said that the group leader is a foreign national, who has confessed to defrauding hundreds of people during initial investigation.

The spokesperson said that the apprehended suspect was the ringleader of the online loan app fraudsters in Pakistan.

He further stated that a formal case has been registered, and investigation has been initiated.

It is noteworthy that numerous cases of fraud and deception involving thousands of Pakistani citizens through online loan apps have been continuously reported in the media.

Earlier, a tragic incident came to light when a resident of Rawalpindi took a loan of Rs13,000 through an online app, but due to the fraud, the amount increased drastically, leading to the person committing suicide.

After the suicide incident, authorities issued clear instructions to take legal action against this illegal activity, with the FIA casting wide its net and tightening noose around fraudsters.
