Four killed as dumper crushes multiple vehicles in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A tragic road accident in Islamabad’s IJP Road on Friday left four people dead and several others injured after a dumper overturned, crushing multiple vehicles beneath it.

According to the Islamabad police spokesperson, the accident occurred when the dumper lost control and toppled, trapping several vehicles underneath.

Rescue operations are underway, and local police are on the scene.

Police confirmed that four people lost their lives in the accident, including three men and a 15-year-old girl.

Initial reports suggest that the accident was caused by a tyre burst.

The bodies and injured were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Meanwhile, state media reported that one of the deceased has been identified as Khushkhal, while the identities of the other three, including two women, remain unknown.

Following the incident, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and Chief Traffic Officer reached the accident site to oversee rescue efforts.

According to the DC, the dumper, loaded with sand, lost control and fell onto a rickshaw, crushing its passengers.

A total of four people were killed and four others injured, who were shifted to Federal Polyclinic and PIMS.

He assured that the runaway dumper driver would soon be arrested.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the loss of lives and directed authorities to provide the injured with the best medical care.

He also sought a detailed report on the accident and instructed officials to take steps to improve traffic management to prevent such incidents in the future.

Six killed, 20 injured in Balochistan bus crash

Separately, six people were killed and 20 others injured when two passenger buses collided in the Qalat district of Balochistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, Levies officials said the accident occurred when a bus traveling from Quetta to Karachi collided with another coming from the opposite direction.

The deceased and injured were shifted to Qalat Hospital for treatment.
