Four policewomen suspended for accepting bribe

KARACHI: Four policewomen in Karachi have been suspended after a video showing them allegedly accepting a bribe went viral on social media.

In the video, the female officers can be seen demanding a bribe from a distressed citizen. One of the officers is heard asking for Rs. 70,000, while the footage also captures them negotiating the amount.

According to police officials, although the video has gone viral but no one has lodged a formal complaint in this regard, The exact date of the video and details of the case are still under investigation, according to the police.

Taking notice of the incident, Additional IG has formed an inquiry team. Further legal and departmental action will be taken based on the committee’s report.
