Two terrorists killed in intelligence-based operation near Peshawar: ISPR

HASSAN KHEL: Two terrorists were killed and two injured during an intelligence-based operation (IOB) in Peshawar district on Saturday, the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced.

In a press release, the ISPR stated that in early hours of Saturday, “security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in general area Hassan Khel, Peshawar District on reported presence of terrorists”.

The announcement went on to state that the “during conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, as result of which terrorist ringleader Ayaz @ Muhammad and Terrorist Ahmedey @ Koochi were sent to hell, while two other terrorists were injured”.

ISPR stated that the eliminated terrorists were responsible for several attacks in Pakistan. “The killed terrorists remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent civilians”.

Post-operation, firearms and other deadly material was confiscated from the terrorist hideout. “Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from killed terrorists”, the statement read.

Residents of Hassan Khel were grateful to the security forces for securing the area from extremists. “Locals of the area appreciated the operation. Sanitization of the area is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area as the Security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country”.

Azerbaijan foreign minister calls on army chief

Meanwhile, the foreign minister (FM) of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the army chief at the military’s headquarter (GHQ) on Saturday, the ISPR revealed.

During the meeting, the army chief and the FM “engaged in in-depth discussions on matters of mutual interest, including regional peace and stability”.

The announcement went on to state that the army chief “emphasized Pakistan’s long-standing fraternal ties with Azerbaijan and reiterated the country’s unwavering commitment to providing comprehensive assistance and cooperation in the spheres of defense and security”.

The army chief also commended the Azerbaijani military for theri bravery. “COAS praised the Azerbaijani Armed Forces for their exemplary professionalism and valour”.

The ISPR ended their announcement with “The visiting dignitary expressed his sincere appreciation for Pakistan’s steadfast support to Azerbaijan and acknowledged the country’s pivotal role in maintaining regional stability”.
