35 militants killed in KP operations

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces killed 14 militants allegedly linked to an “Indian-sponsored agenda” during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan’s Datta Khel area on June 2-3, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched after credible intelligence about the presence of Khawarij militants in the area. A heavy exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the elimination of all 14 militants who were reportedly involved in terrorist activities.

The ISPR stated that clearance operations were ongoing in the area to sanitise it from any remaining terrorist elements. The military’s statement reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to completely eradicate terrorism, specifically mentioning the militants’ alleged ties to Indian sponsorship.

“Pakistan’s security forces remain fully determined to protect the motherland from the scourge of terrorism,” the ISPR statement said, adding that operations would continue until all terrorist threats were neutralised.

Security forces have intensified operations across the tribal belt in recent months as part of the ongoing campaign against militancy. Authorities have also increased surveillance to prevent potential retaliatory attacks following such operations.

This report follows a series of similar counter-terrorism actions in the region, underscoring the military’s sustained focus on eliminating militant networks, particularly those with alleged foreign support.
