Freight train derails in Rahim Yar Khan

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Two coaches of a freight train derailed in a railway incident on Sunday.

The District Coordination Officer (DCO) Railway Sukkur said that the derailment occurred due to the suspension of the “down track”, affecting the train’s movement. The incident took place around 8 pm.

“Down track” refers to an assigned track for trains traveling in a specific direction. This system helps maintain order and safety by segregating tracks for trains moving in opposite directions.

The DCO railway assured that efforts are underway to dispatch the affected goods vehicle to its destination promptly.

No casualties were reported in the derailment.

The down track was restored to functioning condition after five hours.
