Fresh appointment of judges —  new seniority list updated

ISLAMABAD: Following the appointment of seven judges to the apex court on Friday, the seniority list has been updated with Justice Mansoor Ali Shah ranking first after Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi.

Below is how the list stands after the changed were witnessed in the courts recently, helmed by CJP Afridi.

Earlier in the day, six permanent judges and one ad-hoc judge have taken the oath today, making it a total of seven being sworn in the Supreme Court under CJP Afridi. Justice Aamer Farooq, who helmed IHC has been elevated to the Supreme Court, leading Justice Sarfraz Dogar to fill his position.

Justice Aamer Farooq, Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, Justice Shakil Ahmed, Justice Shafi Siddiqui were sworn in. Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Justice Hashim Kakar were all sworn as Supreme Court judges. Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb took the oath as an ad-hoc judge.

The event was the first-ever open-air oath-taking ceremony in the Supreme Court and was held outside to accommodate the large number of attendees.
