ISLAMABAD: In response to a request from the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has sanctioned the deployment of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) in the region.

This decision followed a detailed discussion about the law and order situation in AJK during a meeting between the two leaders at the Ministry of Interior.

During the meeting, PM Haq and Interior Minister Naqvi explored various aspects of AJK’s security challenges. A ministry spokesperson confirmed that the interior minister has greenlit the deployment to bolster security efforts in the area.

Naqvi also assured that comprehensive support would be provided to maintain peace in AJK. PM Haq expressed his gratitude to the Interior Minister for his prompt response and decisive actions to address the pressing security concerns.

Earlier, AJK PM had appealed to the central government on June 22 for an increased grant to address the sensitive situation in the region. The region had recently experienced violent clashes instigated by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee, resulting in fatalities and numerous injuries.
